The end is finally here, just one more week of cramming and you'll be high school free and diploma in hand. While we all get to match in those lovely bright red robes and caps, how do you know what to wear underneath?
Some people may think it really doesn't matter since your gown will be zipped through the entire ceremony, but what about for pictures? Or when you take the gown off? It's important to look put-together for an event like this. Graduation is such a milestone in your life, why not dress like it means something?
Female graduates. Wear a nice dress that's not too short so you look classy instead of trashy. Also, pay attention to the neckline of your dress. The gowns come up fairly high, but there's still some space where it might look awkward with too high of a neckline. As far as shoes go, wear a pair that you are comfortable in. If you have any trouble at all walking in heels, wear a nice pair of sandals instead. The last thing you want is to fall on your face in front of literally everyone you've ever known.
Male graduates. For you guys it's a little easier. All you need is a pair of dress pants or khakis, a button up shirt, a tie, and a pair of dress shoes. Just make sure the color of your shirt doesn't clash with the red gown. You could stick with the some final school spirit and go for a black or white shirt.
Also a reminder for the entire class, you are going to be in an auditorium with every other graduate and each of their family members, the chances are it will be semi-warm, so be sure not to wear too many layers.
Congratulations Class of 2014!
